TUDOR United SportsCar Championship drivers Eric Curran will also meet and sign autographs with fans at the festival along with SPEED Energy Stadium Off-Road Presented by TRAXXAS Truck Series driver of the Quicken Loans truck Arie Luyendyk Jr.

RED WINGS AGREE TO TERMS WITH DYLAN LARKIN ON ENTRY-LEVEL CONTRACT

The Detroit Red Wings today announced that they have agreed to terms with center Dylan Larkin on a three-year entry-level contract. In accordance with club policy, additional details will not be disclosed.
Larkin was Detroit’s top choice in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, selected by the Red Wings with the 15th pick of the first round. The Waterford, Mich., native spent the 2014-15 season with the Big Ten’s Michigan Wolverines , ranking among team leaders with 15 goals (2nd), 32 assists (T1st), 47 points (2nd), a plus-18 rating (T2nd) and 151 shots (1st). He ranked 11th in the nation in scoring and was second among freshmen, behind Boston University’s Jack Eichel, earning national recognition as an a Second Team All-American and within the conference as Big Ten Freshman of the Year, First Team All-Big Ten and All-Big Ten Rookie Team.

Ken Holland met with the media in the Wings dressing room today. He says that terms were the major sticking point in keeping Mike Babcock in Detroit and that Babs wanted a longer contract but Holland said that “after being in a city for 10 years your next contract is going to be shorter.”
When asked when he knew Babcock was leaving Holland said he didn’t get Babcock’s final answer until 11:15 this morning.
Holland said he had “mixed emotions” about the entire situation because he had spent a lot of time with Babcock over the past few days at the rink, at his (Holland’s) house and most recently eight hours on a plane. But Holland continually thanked Babcock for 10 straight playoff years, two finals appearances and a Stanley Cup.

Men’s volleyball teams from the United States, Canada, Cuba and Mexico will battle in the first step toward 2016 Olympic Games qualification at the NORCECA Champions Cup. Each team will play the other three teams one time in a straight round-robin.
Competition and practices are free and open to the public.
This event is being held in conjunction with the USA Volleyball Open National Championships at COBO Center.
The NORCECA Champions Cup will qualify the top two finishing teams for the FIVB World Cup on Sept. 8-23 in Japan. The top two placers at World Cup will qualify for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Milan, Michigan – On Saturday, June 13, 2015 the Milan Dragway (10860 Plank Rd, Milan MI) will host thousands of drag racing, car loving enthusiasts for one of the biggest events of the year, The Detroit Dragway Reunion. For the past six years, those that used to frequent the Detroit Dragway gather to reunite, race and show off their one of a kind cars.
Special guests in attendance include the legendary Don “The Snake” Prudhomme and Tom “The Mongoose” McEwen whom represent the greatest rivalry and friendship in drag racing history. The movie, Snake and Mongoose is based on the two men was released in 2013. The legends will be greeting fans along with singing autographs at 10:30am and then again at 3pm at the dragway.
Snake and Mongoose increased the sport of drag racing when thy teamed up with Mattel’s Hot Wheels toy line in 1969, only a year after the toy went to market. This unique partnership with Mattel revolutionized the sports marketing world and created a brand that has become a household name for young children everywhere.

The Detroit Lions announced today that they have signed free agent DE Corey Wootton to a one-year contract. Additional contract terms were not disclosed.
Wootton joins the Lions after spending the 2014 season with the Minnesota Vikings, where he played in 15 games along the defensive line rotation and totaled 16 tackles (11 solo) and one sack. He entered the NFL with the Chicago Bears in 2010 and spent four seasons with the team (2010-13). In 2012 he recorded a career-high seven sacks.
