The 2007 MLB trade deadline passed hours ago today, and the Tigers opted not to make any deals. I guess this means that Dombrowski and Leyland were serious when they put their trust in the bullpen — here’s to hoping for effective, without-rush returns of Fernando Rodney and Joel Zumaya.

(Lego) Tiger Stadium Lives On
So far it has been a silent deadline for the Tigers — just as it has nearly been a quiet eight years for old Tiger Stadium. Closed at the end of the 1999 season, baseball at the corner has certainly been missed by all Tigers fans — after all, Navin Field/Briggs Stadium/Tiger Stadium was [...]

Tigers Hold Lead as Deadline Approaches
Yes, it has been far too long. Busy schedules and then a week on vacation, but it’s time to get back to business. Taking things from where I left off, the American League once again topped the National Leaguers 5-4 in the Midsummer Classic, giving the AL home-field advantage in the World Series once more. [...]

Blueline: Wings Sign Hasek, Drake, Rafalski; Schedule Released
The NHL offseason is certainly a season to follow in Detroit. Around the Bases: Maggs Makes Early Exit in Home Run Derby
The All-Star Break is upon us! While it is hard to believe that we have already seen half a season of Major League Baseball, it has certainly been quite the ride. 52-34 is the Tigers’ record, which is good enough for first place in the American League Central — a game ahead of [...]

Granderson’s Catch of the Day
“I was like, ‘Man, Wily Mo’s a big guy — so tell him I’m sorry about it.’”
Indeed, Granderson made perhaps the greatest catch we have seen all season — diving and leaping grabs by the young Tigers centerfielder are now commonplace on highlight reels. His .281 batting average is not [...]

Independence Day
Hopefully everyone has a great Fourth of July. It is today that we celebrate all of the freedoms and great things about the United States of America. Without the signing of that Declaration of Independence who knows where we would be at today? So take the time today to enjoy freedom, enjoy America, and say [...]

Chestnut Brings Mustard Belt Back to USA
In a fitting tribute to our country’s birthday, Joey Chestnut won the Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating competition held annually on Independence Day. His victory brings the mustard belt back to the United States — 9 of the previous 10 contests had been won by Japanese competitors. The Californian engulfed a new world [...]
