Sorry for the linkfest, but this pretty much everything important that has happened outside of Detroit since NFL free agency 2006 began.

  • The biggest name and saga in free agency has come to an end. Terrell Owens has signed a 3-year contract with the Dallas Cowboys that is worth over $20 million. The move comes after both Terrell Owens (former Eagle) and Keyshawn Johnson (former Cowboy) were released by their respective teams. This is an interesting union, especially after Owens’ infamous touchdown celebrations on the Cowboys logo at midfield.
  • Detroit native and 2006 Super Bowl XL Champion Jerome Bettis will work as a football analyst in the NBC studios during their telecasts of Sunday night football. He also lost over $60,000 in jewlry while practicing for the big game at the Silverdome. At least he still has the SBXL ring…
  • For 4 years and $30 million, running back Edgerrin James was willing to leave Peyton Manning and the Colts to play in the heat of the desert after agreeing to the contract with the Arizona Cardinals. Could the Cards head up the ladder with their new running back and new stadium?
  • The Packers will continue to run the ball with Ahman Green, at least for one more year.
  • Raider Nation will be without quarterback Kerry Collins, after Oakland released him to save over $9 million under the salary cap.
  • Antwaan Randle El must have been satisfied with one Super Bowl ring with Pittsburgh. He’s moved on and signed a seven-year contract that will pay him $31 million with the Washington Redskins.
  • Former Lions defensive back RW McQuarters signed with the New York Giants, and QB Jeff Garcia signed a deal with the Eagles.
  • The 49ers have traded wideout Brandon Lloyd to the Redskins for 2 draft picks, but then filled the void by signing free agent Antonio Bryant. [Link]
  • The Miami Dolphins have acquired quarteback Daunte Culpepper from the Minnesota Vikings in exchange for a second-round pick.
  • Jets acquired QB Patrick Ramsey for a pick.
  • Drew Brees will be throwing the passing and handing off the ball for the Saints in New Orleans for the next 6 years.
  • The Panthers have reached agreement on a new contract with starting running back DeShaun Foster.
  • The Tampa Bay Bucs released QB Brian Griese as part of several moves resulting in a gain of $7 million in cap space.
